I want something that will tame this mess! Silky and smooth is my goal before I pull a Brittany and start wearing wigs! Help!
I have long, very coarse, dry, somewhat wavy (frizzy)hair and lot's of it! What are some good prouducts?
The best way the fix that problem is to start with the products you use. I have the same exact type of hair, and ive found that Sleek Look (by Matrix, available at most professional salons) is the best product that ive found. Iim a cosmetologist and get great feedback from clients who use it. They also make a GREAT misting spray also that gives an extra boost of shine and a great deep conditioning treatment if your hair is damaged. You will probably find its on the sort of expensive side. If you cant put that kind of money into it, you can get a comparison brand called Slick Line? (make sure its in orange packaging at sallys beauty supply). I had an especially bad problem with frizz in the humidity and had none the entire summer I used it. I personally add a few drops of honey into my shampoo and that gives my hair an ultra sleep feel, but be careful to not use too much or your hair obviously, will become too sticky. You want just enough to smooth it out.
If you can let your hair air dry, that always helps with frizz. You can get gloss drops like Frizz Ease by john friend at any drug store. If you do need to blowdry, section hair off and pull straight with a large paddle brush as you blowdry. If you have the time to put into styling your hair, the biggest solution is to invest in a flat iron, the ultimate quick fix. Section your hair off in 1-2 inch sections and flat iron while your hair is dry. Using a flat iron will smooth the cuticle of your hairshaft and give a much more shiny appreance as well. If your worried about the heat damaging your hair, there are thermal protectant sprays you can also buy to prevent heat damage.

Try using a little bit of conditioner mixed with your styling products when applying them, just a drop mixed in with them. John Frieda anti-frizz serum works well with frizzy hair and can be found at most drug stores for around 7 bucks

My daughter got her hair professionally straightened with a chemical straightener which worked great she has really thick hair and coarse. If you want to keep your length get someone to thin out with thining scissors at your local beauty shop. Good luck

Same Here, except mine isn't wavy. I used Sunsilk Hydra TLC (buy the whole line, it's great) and it really made it alot smother and shinier. Also, if you don't mind buying salon products try Biolage conditioning Balm. It's great. On the package it says to leave it in for about three minutes, but I leave mine in for way longer than that, and just before you blow dry your hair, put a little bit more on, and it'll help.
