I got a bad perm I have never messed my hair up before till now, Kinda of scared to do more damage, but I hate the color it is, dont want to cut it off either. help!!

go to a salon and have it professionally done. it won't fall off, models have crap like this done to their hair every day- it's their job.

if you do it at home, follow up the highlighting with an oil treatment or leave your hair naturally oily for a day or two. Use a shampoo WITHOUT Sodium Lauryl Sulfates in it. JASON products makes a great shampoo for this.

Don't highlight your hair. it can fall out. Since your hair is damaged, you have to treat it until it is strong enough for you to add highlights.

i wouldn't dye it. it may fall out. i would just keep using conditioner until its not so dry anymore. try the leave-in conditioner, that way it's in your hair all the time.

yeah..just dye it and keep up with deep conditioning treatments...ur hair will look less dry in no time..

Stay away from coloring it for awhile. Whenever you get your hair permd, your stylist should tell you that you should not dye your hair for up to 7 months after you have had the perm. You are chemically altering the "make-up" of your hair which is damaging it.

If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.

The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.

that's kinda wierd because my sister just had the same thing dne well my auntie justed moved out and then she had a perm and so my sister (we have black and white hair

) wnet and permed her without doing nun of the proceudres but the liquid gresy sutff, so my om began to notice it and noow her her is super dry and you cnt really do any thing to it, so we took her to super clips up the strreet and they gave us this stuff and they mosterized adn cliped a littele bit to help it grow so just go talk to ur cloasest ":BEST" hair place

You will probably be able to highlight it soon, but first I would suggest a few weeks of deep conditioning. Don't highlight it until the condition of your hair starts to improve. Don't try to straighten/curl/blowdry your hair, comb it a lot to spread the oils that will naturally bring your hair back to health, and for heaven's sake don't perm it again. Perms always turn out horribly, always.

There are plenty of questions on Yahoo answers where people have already asked about good conditioners, so you might try looking those up.

a few strands wouldn't be as damaging...but try to get a better shampoo that carries a lesser ph ... i recommend a ph of no higher than a 7

Probably not. Why don't you put a deep conditioner in your hair before hightlighting.

Na.. but take some minor steps to insure.

Highlight with the hair UN washed. Dirtier the better!

And before the highlighting operation.. give yourself a natural mayonnaise treatment.

Seriously, sounds sick.. but smear a good amount of mayo into the hair, wrap with plastic for an hour, rinse well. NO shampooing! Then do your highlighting.

All this just insures that you have plenty of natural oils protecting the particles.. since it seems very dry to you.

Also, after the highlighting, you will no doubt shampoo.. make sure you towel dry before conditioning and let it stand for twice the time and MOST important... Don't overdue shampooing for a week or two.. Rinse the hair daily but try to give it a chance to build the natural oils up before you wash them away after being so harsh on the hairs!

i suggest you cut the ends of them so your hair will look less damaged. and use deep conditioning every 2 weeks 2-3 months before dying i suggest using temp hair dye
