I have dry, damaged ends (but they're not split). If I apply Vaseline to the ends and then wash out later, and keep doing this, will it hydrate them and make them stronger?

No it will make your hair really sticky and clumpy causing it to look really bad. Even if you wash it out it won't have any actual benefits to moisturizing. I've always used Olive Oil at the ends of my hair let it sit for 10 - 30 minutes and then wash out. Just make sure you ONLY put it on the ends, otherwise your roots will become greasy! No, it is best to use natural oils, such a jojoba, castor, or other pure oils.

Vaseline is not the answer, you will simply make your hair very greasy. Use a "leave in" conditioner (Paul Mitchell is great) instead and just be generous on the ends of your hair.

No vaseline won't help at all. I had this problem. What I did was get a haircut to get rid of all the damaged ends and I now use a deep conditioner once a week. Using something on the ends just covers up the problem, doesn't solve it.

This may sound silly, but washing your hair with beer makes it soft and silky with lots of volume.

no vaseline contains a petroleum base which ulitmately dries out things , rubber, skin etc, it pulls the moisture out of what you put it on. you need a good leave in conditioner. on top of your daily shampoo and treatment like pantene pro v. get a good trim and start using a leave in conditioner work at the tips first and if you have any left on your hand work it up , dont put any at the top because it will leave a greasy apprearance thats where all the sebum from your scalp is. the farther down your hair is the dryer it is because its away from your pores, it takes the most wind and damage. use paul mitchells skinny serum too just a dab will do you work in well on wet hair. dry your hair with medium to cool not hot it will take longer but your hair will look better. you can also get a steam straightener (walmart has some for a reasonable price) it will hold the moisture in. semi dry your hair , then use the steamer then put the dryer on cool and to make it lay nice and smooth finish with a pure real boarhair bristle brush

you will see a difference!

ps you can also take the vitamin orally (Biotin) its great for nails and hair

No, and the vaseline will be hard to take off after wards. It will actually not help any, just make a mess, it wont let the ends of your hair have any moisture since it will block it, and it will damage your hair more.

Water is quite drying alone. In the shower, wet hair is hard, with conditoner , the hair is MOIST.

If the ends aren't split, as you say, a little bit of vitamin E oil will help. Put just a few drops on your fingertips and smooth it over the ends of your hair. Vaseline will not help at all and may do harm. If your ends are split, there is nothing that will repair them other than to trim them. If split ends are not trimmed off regularly (6 weeks), the split will continue up the weakened hair shafts toward the scalp, leading to frizz and flyaway hair.
